Light in the Twilight: The First Patriarch of the New World
Light in the Twilight: The First Patriarch of the New World

On Sunday, August, 31st, with the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas, Protodeacon Andrei Psarev, Professor of Church History at Holy Trinity Seminary (Jordanville, NY) will conclude a lecture tour in the American South at our Holy Trinity Church in Mebane following the Divine Liturgy. Dedicated to the centennial of the repose of the New Holy Confessor Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow & All Russia, the lecture is entitled "Light in the Twilight: The First Patriarch of the New World." All are welcome to attend.

St. Tikhon was a visionary leader who implemented the concept of the All-American Council and guided the Church both in the New World and later, amid persecution in Soviet Russia. In 1917, he became the first patriarch in nearly 200 years and was soon faced with the task of charting a path for a Church stripped of all legal rights under an atheist regime.
